Add and manage tags

Tags give your tasks context — areas, labels, contacts, and attributes like time, energy, and due dates.

Add or remove tags and attributes

On Desktop

Right-click an item (or select multiple) and choose from the context menu. Or click the drop-down icon at the right end of the item entry.

When editing or creating a task:

  • Add a tag — type in the tags field and choose from the list, or create a new one.
  • Remove a tag — click the × in its corner, or press Backspace to remove the last tag.
  • Set time, energy, or due date — click the icons on the right side of the panel. Click again to change or remove.
  • Filter then createfilter a list and any active filter tags apply automatically to new items created in that view.

On Mobile

Tap to create or edit an item.

  • Add a tag — tap the tags field, select from the list, or type to search. You can create new areas, contacts, or labels here.
  • Remove a tag — tap the tags field, then tap the tag. Backspace removes the last one.
  • Set due date, energy, and time — tap the appropriate icon, make your selection, and tap OK. To remove an attribute, select Remove.

Good to know: Project actions and reference items inherit the tags of their parent project or reference list. You can add extra tags to them individually. To remove an inherited tag, you’ll need to remove it from the parent first.
